It is no wonder Marion Cotillard won an academy award for her absolutely enthralling portrayal of Edith Piaf. La Vie en Rose is a wonderful movie.
Suffered from liver cancer that finally caused her death. Edith Piaf, a very talented singer, went through many stages in her life to reach fame and an artistic prosperity. Her parents abandoned her when she was a child. Marion Cotillard did a great job playing the role of Edith Piaf.
Her song "Non je ne regrette rien" reflets her life and how she feels about it. Wonderful movie. Even after she got famous and rich, she still wasn't happy. We feel pity for her because of all the suffering she went through in her life.
Had to live and sing in the streets in order to make some money. We admire so much her passion for singing. She had a very difficult life. In this movie we all really relate to Edith.
Deeply fell in love with a married man, who later died in a plane, which deeply broke her heart. Lived with her grandmother who ran a prostition network. Was abused by those who wanted to take advantage of her singing talent in order to make some money.
It would not have been so bad, except for the fact that they spoke so fast; therefore, I had to read very fast, and as a result, did not watch what was going on as much as I would have liked.Amazon's service was great, as usual. I was very surprised to discover that this movie was completely in French with English subtitles.
I treasure this one. Inspiring, sad and funny. Wonderful movie. The movie has such an impact that it stays with you for days.
These biopics are getting as tedious as reality TV. The actress' performance was great, Depardieu stole all his scenes as usual, but I really did not find Piaf's life all that interesting or her very sympathetique in the end.
